It's quite late already but AEGEE-Gdansk and AEGEE-Culture Working Group would like to invite you for the best event of this kind: "Performance Meets the People" - the closure conference of the Performing Arts Summer School.
If you love theatre, if you want to know more about acting, dance and music, if you want to spend three unforgettable days in the magnificent Bytow Castle, you have to be there with us to be part of the biggest theatrical holiday! Come and join us!!!

Performance Meets the People
Performance gathering: Bytow Castle (near Gdansk, PL), 3-5 September 2004
· Have you ever felt the joy or the horror of great theatre?
· Do you feel yourself caught up by music, longing to dance?
· Is there more in you than normal words or daily life can express?
· Take a weekend to dive into performance, and discover more of yourself...
As part of the Performing Arts Summer School project, young people from Poland and all of Europe will join the experts in the magnificent Bytow Castle (PL) for three intense, unforgettable days of experiment, discovery, reflection and analysis. In a packed programme of practical and theoretical workshops, participants will explore the relationship between live performance and the society we live in.
· Is there a place for live performance in a time of tv, cds and the internet?
· Why is theatre so often dead, and how can it be brought back to life?
· When does cultural integration begin to destroy cultures?
· What can I discover about myself as a performer?
There will be several chances to participate in practical acting, dance and music workshops. Every participant can choose workshops and discussions according to their interests.
Participants will also have the chance to see the finished performance created by the Performing Arts Summer School, and discuss both the process and the result with the performers and directors.
The social programme includes a tour of Gdansk, a dance party, and (weather permitting) a firelit evening of songs under the stars, as well as a unique open-air European Night in the castle grounds after the performance.
This gathering will also evaluate the Performing Arts Summer School, and begin planning for a possible continuation in 2005. Be there to be part of it!

Language: English (with some Polish translation as needed)
Arrival: Friday morning (3 Sep) in Gdansk
Departure: Sunday evening (5 Sep) or Monday morning (6 Sep) from Bytow
Early arrival/late departure: no problem, just let us know
Accommodation: Dormitories; sleeping bag needed
Meals: All included from Friday lunch to Monday breakfast
Places available: 30+
Deadline: 28 August
