Dear friends,

some weeks ago the Summer-Fall Regional Meeting of the Rainbow Region
took place in Salerno (19th-21st September 2003).

It was a great success, and it's time now to show you a short report of
our activities there.

First of all, the staff. It was composed by four great SubCommies,
Giselle Spiteri Miggiani (Nursery Team), Alice Traverso Bernini
(Activities Team), Silvia Baita (PR&FR Team) and Fabrizio Fantini
(Education Team), by two great guest stars, Nicola Rega (Treasurer of
AEGEE-Europe) and Amedeo Ferrara (President of the Juridical
Commission), and by me.

The participants were more almost 40, and they came from 18 locals
(AEGEE-Bari, AEGEE-Beograd, AEGEE-Brescia, AEGEE-Firenze, AEGEE-Krakow,
AEGEE-Ljubljana, AEGEE-Modena, AEGEE-Napoli, AEGEE-Palermo, AEGEE-Pisa,
AEGEE-Roma, AEGEE-Salerno, AEGEE-Trieste, AEGEE-Valletta, AEGEE-Zagreb,
Contact Avellino, Contact Catania, Contact Lecce).

The program of the RM was based on two different pillars: team-working
and regional debate.

The whole first day of works, Saturday 20th, was devoted to improve
team-working skills of the participants. A game ("The bridge") and a
simulation session ("The conference")involved people to work in a team,
to understand task division, to perceive the importance of communication
in such a work.
After that part, some short lectures (in the end changed in
conversations)introduced the concept of "project" and focused the
attention on the opportunity for each local to join an AEGEE European
Project becoming itself part of a team.

The day after, a part a short session consisted in an explanation about
how to apply for the European Commission grants, the whole day was
devoted to the regional debate, one of the most important part of any
meeting.
The debate was very intensive, and its first goal was to increase the
involvement of Rainbow locals in the organization of events that are
part of a project. It started with an overview of the events organized
in our region, and the attention was focused on the high number of "fun
events" that take place in the Rainbow in comparison to other kind of
events. The always growing number of antennas interested in organizing
not only fun events is still in contrast with our strong tradition as
very good SU organizers. Nether less the growing involvement of the
Rainbow Region in the European level and European projects is proved by
the active people on European level and by the many projects planned in
the region for the upcoming period.
The last part was a discussion about the proposal considered during the
Netcom Meeting in Brussels concerning the possible changes in the
borders of the Regions. Unfortunately, the time for this discussion was
really limited, but the general mood towards this proposal was quite
negative.
In the meantime a specific session was devoted to the Contacts, focusing
the attention on the steps for being upgraded as Contact-Antennae and
then Antennae. Even that part was very lively and constructive.

During the RM there was also an internal meeting of the Rainbow Team,
and many topics were discussed, generally linked with the RM program,
but also referred to the general policy of the Team in his work. And
another meeting was set among representatives of the SUCT, the NetCom
and AEGEE-Firenze concerning the "Gazelle" IE event planned in Firenze
within the next Spring Agora in Skopje.

The RM was a success. All of the staff was satisfied and also motivated
by the presence of a very good group of participants, interested and
enthusiastic.

I would like to thank a lot those marvellous participants, that
incredible staff I had the honour to co-ordinate and the wonderful local
organizers from AEGEE-Salerno, who realised a superlative event.

Greeting and fixing our next Regional Meeting at the Agora in Zaragoza,
I wish all of you a good time!

Regards,

Luca
