TRAINING COURSE ON THE MANAGEMENT OF TRANS-NATIONAL VOLUNTARY PROJECTS

Date: 27 February - 5 March 2000
Place: European Youth Centre, Budapest
Deadline (internal): 30 November 1999

Aims of the course:
Trans-national voluntary service is one of the tools with which we can
elaborate a just European society. It combines a new kind of intercultural
learning experience, encouraging active social and occupational
integration, with giving a helping hand to the development of local
communities. Therefore, this course intends to enable those actively
involved in trans-national voluntary projects to improve the quality and
the intercultural dimension of these projects.

Contents of the course:
The course will be based on the current practices of the participants,
which serve as a basis for analysis and reflections to overcome obstacles
and to improve their TNV programmes in the future. This will include
exchange of good practice and troubleshooting concerning the management of
the different stages of the TNV project, such as pre-departure training,
support structures, intercultural learning, follow up, legal and
administrative issues, etc. in order to develop the quality of the TNV
projects. Particular attention will be given to crisis management within
the TNV project.

Methodology:
An experienced prepatory team will establish programme elements that will
form the backbone of this training course. The whole course is, however,
percieved as a mutual learning situation based on participants' experience
in youth work. Great emphasis will be placed on working from and extending
this experience. Active participation, group and team work, and
learning-by-doing form the basis of this course.

Languages:
French and English are foreseen as the working languages of the course.

Participants profile:
Candidates should be actively involved in the organisation (preparation,
implemnetation, support, etc.) of trans-national voluntary projects for
some time and should want to develop a more in-depth knowledge of these
projects. In general candidates should:
* be aged between 18 and 30
* commit themselves to their function for future activities in the field
of trans-national voluntary service

this training course
* be well informed about the trans-national voluntary projects they are
involved in and be prepared to present and explain their functioning to
the other participants
* be able to work in one of the two working languages of the course -
English and French
* BE COMMITTED TO ATTEND FOR THE FULL DURATION OF THE COURSE AND BE
SUPPORTED BY A SENDING ORGANISATION

Enrolment fee, travel and costs of the course:
