Dear friends,

Please, forward the following e-mails concerning the Socrates on the Move
Project (especially, the call for Socrates Promoters) to your local and/or
regional mailing lists.

The Socrates on the Move Project is a one year common project organised by
AEGEE, ESIB (the National Unions of Students in Europe) and ESN (Erasmus
Student Network). The Project, which is in essence an awareness raising
campaign among students, is supported and financed by the European
Commission, Directorate General Education and Culture.

The Socrates on the Move Project will last from January 2000 until
December 2000. The Project consists of four main phases:

1. The first phase (January-March) will be concerned with the development
of the conceptual framework of the Project and the set-up of the
co-operation structure.
2. The Training of the Socrates Promoters is the second phase (March).
3. Phase three (April-October) will consist of promotional activities of
the Socrates Promoters in their respective countries, of three regional
Seminars to discuss and promote mobility, and of general awareness raising
through media channels and promotional material.
4. The final phase of the Project, phase four (November-December), will
consist of a Final Conference - passing a joint statement on Student
Rights regarding the Socrates II programme - and of an evaluation of the
Project, followed by the development of methods to sustain and further
develop the network of Socrates Promoters.

The countries which are included in the Project are the countries which
(can) participate in Socrates II: the member states of the European Union,
the EFTA/EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), the associated
countries from Central and Eastern Europe (Bulgaria, the Czech Republic,
Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and
Slovenia), Cyprus, Malta and Turkey*.

*The financial conditions of Malta and Turkey's participation in the
Project have to be clarified due to the fact that their participation in
Socrates II has not become effective yet.

The Socrates on the Move Project is co-ordinated by a Steering Group
consisting of two members of each organisation. The activities that will
be organised in the frame of the Project by each organisation
respectively, are:

The Training of Socrates Promoters ~ ESIB
The three regional discussion Seminars ~ AEGEE
The Final Conference ~ ESN

In our next two e-mails we will explain in which way(s) your local and/or
your members can become involved in the Socrates on the Move Project.
Basically, the Project offers you two possibilities:

1. Become a Socrates Promoter
2. Organise a Socrates Seminar

Thanks for reading! :-) Please, continue reading the call for Socrates
Promoters...

Regards,

Sebastian & Linda
