Dorota Dyrcz & Laura Costica

Project Manager FR Responsible

Information about the project

Study Tour Democracy BeYond Borders is a project aimed to bring international attention to the Belarusian government's systematic violations of freedom of _expression and basic human rights by educating young Europeans and showing them how democracy in Central Europe was born as well as preparing them to work for different kinds of media. In april/may 2006
the participants, 25 young European journalists (including 15 Belarusians) will take part in a study tour to Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland.

The project will start with a journalism training in Kiev and finish in Gdansk with a big conference for 100 people (pre-event to the Spring Agora in Warszawa) during which the participants will share their experiences from the Study Tour and discuss democratic issues. During the Study Tour itself the participants will not only have the opportunity to visit
places-symbols as well as meet leaders, politicians, diplomats and journalists playing major role in particular revolutions but also actively observe and participate in the daily life of TV, radio and newspapers agencies.
