Dear friends of the Rainbow Region,
dearest Maltese friends,
it's a great day! It's one of the most important and beautiful days for our
Region!
Now we are sure in a few time another border will fall down! And it will be
here, in our Rainbow, and we know one of these days we'll be together in the
same country also with our great friends of that marvellous island. Malta!
And for Slovenia and Croatia, and for Montenegro too, and I hope also for
all of the countries of our wonderful AEGEE, at the end it will be the same!
I think it's so great to know AEGEE preceded all of these political steps
creating our big family so much time before the creation of a real European
Union. We are lucky: probably we will be the most prepared to accept these
changes and live in this new reality. We are just ready. Just now.

I don't know if it's correct to say this, but it's so spontaneous I can't
resist. Forgive me if I'll seem ridiculous.
Welcome, Maltese friends! Be sure: yours was the right choice! We will walk
altogether.
Thank you for this great news, Alexianne, and a big hug to all of people
from AEGEE-Valletta.
And greetings to all of friends from Rainbow and all of our nice guests (and
it's a pleasure to announce they are always more numerous!).

Celebrations across the streets, people waving the EU flag, cars honking
their horns, smiles and laughter is only a glimpse of what's going on in
Malta ...
...this Saturday, March 8th, we had the EU membership referendum and now
it's official, the Maltese populations said YES !!!
Needless to say that we're far more than euphoric and tremendously happy
that on May 1st, 2004, Malta would be an official EU member state. Due to
our thorn political situation on the issue, this whole question was widely
contested in itself but as from today, we can easily say that we've secured
our place ... the place where we always belonged!
...Europe we're coming ...
