Hello all SU fans and SU responsible!

Deadline for collecting applications to Summer Universities is approaching
very fast - you have time only 4 more days!
In this e-mail you will find some reminders about SU application process.
Please read it carefully, because they are very important for this year
procedure.
All this information was also published at SU-L, in e-mails to SU
responsible, BOARDINF-L and on SU official page (www.aegee.org/su).
Here is just sum up from all these sources.
Hope it will be of some use.

1. DEADLINE FOR SENDING APPLICATIONS
2. LAMA: BUG FIX + SU UPDATE
3. CHANGES OF THE PROJECTS AND NEW SU's
4. WHEN YOU SEND YOUR APPLICATIONS... (hints)
5. SU PROJECT DEADLINES
6. FEE FOR SU APPLICATIONS
====================================

1. DEADLINE FOR SENDING APPLICATIONS
The deadline is: 26TH OF APRIL 2002 AT 20.00
It is strongly recommended to send your applications before this deadline!!!

2. LAMA: BUG FIX + SU UPDATE
- This year we didn't get CD-ROM with LAMA on time, so you had to download
installation from the web (http://www.karl.aegee.org/LAMA). If you are not
sure, check the version of LAMA when you open it. On the top should write
LAMA 1.3!
- Be careful that you downloaded LAMA after 23rd of March, otherwise you
have version with some mistakes. In that case you have download and install
new bugfixed version!
- Because of the three additional Summer Universities, you have also to
download an update for the SU data in LAMA. Note that none of those SUs have
been printed in the SU booklet!
You are likely to experience problems in both importing web-created
applications and exporting the collected applications of your
members for SUMASTER _unless_ you obtain this update!
Simply download the correct "dat_sus.zip" file for your LAMA version
(either for Access 2000 or for Access 97), then unzip the file and
finally replace the old dat_sus.mdb file in your LAMA directory.
The file can also be requested via e-mail by writing to
[log in to unmask] with the message text (do not write this in
the subject):
   get lama-update2000
   get lama-update97

3. CHANGES OF THE PROJECTS AND NEW SU's
Three additional Summer Universities (you can find it on Internet database,
but they are not published in SU Booklet; you have to update your LAMA
database!):
- Castello (20.09-04.10)
- Heidelberg (27.07-10.10)
- Munich (18.08-01.09)

Changes:
- The SU Krakow (SU02KAR1) has corrected its date by one month and runs from
August 15 to August 28.
- The SU Constanta (SU02CON1) has corrected the fee to be 95 Euro plus 25
Euro for optional excursions.
- The SC in Riga (SU02RIG1) has slightly changed dates and will begin one
day earlier on June 21.
- In the TSU (SU02VNZ1) organized by AEGEE-Venezia, AEGEE-Treviso and
AEGEE-Trento which from the beginning included also AEGEE-Verona there has
been a change so that TSU will not include stay in Verona.

4. WHEN YOU SEND YOUR APPLICATIONS:

- be careful that you filled in all necessary data about antenna, SU
responsible and of course 'export password' in your LAMA setup! You can find
your Export password in e-mail that was sent to your local's e-mail. Write
to [log in to unmask] in case you cannot find it anymore.

- send applications before the deadline

- If SUMASTER replies: "No command found - try the SUhelp command for
details"
this usually means that the e-mail that arrived at the SUMASTER
mailbox was either completely empty, or contained an empty
.sux attachments of 0 bytes size. This might be due to your mail
server, but it could also be a small problem in the e-mail client
code of LAMA.
Whatever it is, there is a simple solution: If this happens to you,
then please send the .sux file as attachment by using your
standard e-mail program (instead of LAMA).

- Do not send individual applications to SUMASTER (as generated
by the web application). SU applications must be processed and
authorized by the local board. Individual applications are simply
ignored by SUMASTER. ;->

- Please wait for and read the reply of SUMASTER with great care
and line-by-line. SUMASTER is a computer program, not a human
being (rumor has it that SUMASTER is a direct descendent of the
famous R2D2)

- You may re-send your local's SU applications several times
(as long as you stay within the deadline, that is ;->).
Existing applications will be simply overwritten with the new data.
If you want to DELETE an application entirely you may not completely
remove the person from the database; instead create/edit the SU
application in LAMA and assign _no_ choices at all.

5. SU PROJECT DEADLINES
21.04.2002: Suggested internal application deadline for locals
26.04.2002, 20.00h: Closure of the application phase
02.05.2002: Distribution of the pre-selection lists to organizers and
 sending locals
20.05.2002: Last day for organizers to make and publish the final selection

6. CHECK SU RESPONSIBLE
You can check and apply possible changes for your SU responsible's data at:
http://www.karl.aegee.org/suappass.nsf/Intro

6. FEE FOR SU APPLICATIONS
At Spring Agora you have to pay fee for every application to SU. The amount
is 2,5 Euro per person applying.

Write to the SUCT for any question or problem ([log in to unmask]) or to me
([log in to unmask]).

Good luck with your SU applications!
Tamara
