::: How to shape a new education programme?
On the 11th
of October 30 students and professionals met in Bonn to discuss in details
the idea of shaping new education programme for Europe. The event was
organized in the framework of European Education Campaign, a yearly
project of AEGEE. It followed a series of conferences and seminars on
topics regarding education in Europe that have been taking place
throughout the year. The campaign will continue with a seminar on
e-learning methods, their implementation in the curricula and with giving

Three strongest
European students’ organizations: the European Students’ Forum (AEGEE),
the National Union of Students in Europe (ESIB), Erasmus Student Network
(ESN), together with the student-run European Confederation of Junior
Enterprises (JADE) are joining the Future of Europe debate with the
project “Universities to Debate Europe”. Supported by the European
Commission and organized in the frame of the Public Debate on the Future
of Europe, it aims at involving the academic world into the discussion
about the prospects for the continent. Two major events to come are the
Debate Marathon -“30 days – 100 debates – 100 universities” in
October and November and the Students’ Convention in December in
the European Parliament.

During the
academic year 2002/2003, the Erasmus program, which has been promoting
mobility in higher education since 1987, will have welcomed its first
million students. This was a great opportunity to celebrate an entirely
European success story. A million young people will have enjoyed the
experience of a multicultural, European environment. |

::: AEGEE joining the European Movement
AEGEE has
become a member of the European Movement - an umbrella association
gathering several pro-European NGOs. We believe that our presence in the
European Movement will strengthen the visibility and impact of young
people in European affairs. It will also enable AEGEE to present its ideas
and visions as reflected in our projects on a broad, paneuropean platform.
We look forward to a fruitful cooperation with the European
Movement. |

::: European Convention
AEGEE has
joined the Youth Contact Group of the European Youth Forum, which
deals with matters related to the European Convention. AEGEE has till now
been strongly involved in the work of the European Convention, as well as
the Youth Convention, and currently is coordinating "Universities to
Debate Europe". We believe that a coordinated action of Youth NGOs
gathered on the platform of the European Youth Forum, will strengthen
Youth's voice in the field of the Convention. |
