During the weekend of
21st-24th November AEGEE-Europe, the European Students’
Forum held its biannual General Assembly in Athens. 700 delegates gathered to
discuss the future of AEGEE activities as well as AEGEE policies and
statements.
The AGORA accepted several
proposals and voted upon candidatures to the European bodies of AEGEE. Delegates
participated in 20 workshops were, amongst others, they had a chance to discuss
AEGEE involvement in European issues including European Convention and
Bologna Process.
Newly elected President of
AEGEE-Europe, Mr. Mark de Beer said:
“AEGEE,
voicing the opinions of European students, is strongly involved in European
policy making. General Assemblies give us the chance to listen to the
representatives of the whole Network and create position papers reflecting the
views of a wide range of students.”
AEGEE
is one of the biggest students’ associations in Europe. It aims at promoting
European integration and intercultural understanding. With its network of 17.000
students AEGEE has the means to make a serious effort to influence key parties
for the implementation of their projects.
