: :: European Identity Yearplan Topic projects developments ::

European Identity is the Yearplan topic for the year 2004. During the months of March and April we have run several polls on our website in order to answer questions emerging during the preparation to and realization of the European Identity projects. Almost 57% of the surveyed people answered YES to the general question if the European Identity exists at all. The poll question was followed by a more specific one - “Do you consider a common European Identity a threat to national identities?”, to which 78% responded NO, out of which 29% was of the opinion that European Identity is actually a challenge (not a threat) for national identities.
The Yearplan project "EU and Europe" is triggering off this weekend with a big conference the Future of Europe held in Athens (Greece).
Last month our members also had a chance to express their vote for the Yearplan Topic 2005, and it is going to be: “Hot Spots – Stability through conflict understanding – creating understanding in conflict areas". The "runner-up" topic was Higher Education. Our polls are publicized online on the main site.

; :: Final Conference: Turkish-Greek Civic Dialogue Project ::

“Turkish-Greek Civic Dialogue” was a demonstration project organized by AEGEE (and financed by the European Commission), whose overall aims were to foster the dialogue and relations between Turkish and Greek youth initiatives and university students, as well as to carry out institution building and networking to encourage the target group to designate further partnership projects. Final Conference activities took place between 2-4 April at the Middle East Technical University (METU), and around 100 university students from Turkey, Greece and other European countries attended the conference for 3 days.

; :: The Art of Expression in Enschede, NL ::

AEGEE is a place where our members, no matter the faculty and interests, can find something gripping, share with the others their visions and express themselves. AEGEE conferences deal with different topics – from very serious ones concerning the future of Educational Programs of the European Commission, the Israeali-Palestinian conflict, to the "lighter" subjects like “The importance of laughter” ot “Let’s talk about sex”. Last month over 80 AEGEE members met in Enschede, the Netherlands, for a conference “The Art of Expression”. Focusing on drama, painting and photography, participants had a chance to express themselves artistically and gain team playing skills.
