In september 2005, AEGEE will conduct a Case Study
Trip on the island
of Cyprus, within the general framework of its yearplan project 2005,
Tolerance - Acceptance - Peace.
With this Case Study Trip, AEGEE wants to put a spotlight on the Cyprus
conflict from the personal, subjective perspective: the perspective of
the people living on both sides of the separated island.

The AEGEE Cyprus Case Study Trip 2005 is a project
organised by students from both communities - in cooperation with
European students from outside Cyprus - that will invite 30 young
students from all over Europe, including 5 Greek and 5 Turkish
Cypriots, to conduct the Case Study Trip research on Cyprus for 14
days. During that time, the participants will have the opportunity to
compare the facts and views about history and politics they will have
learnt in the preceding months with the points of view that Cypriots
from both ethnicities hold and the experiences they have made in the
past. Apart from interviewing Cypriots and visiting sites related to
the history of the conflict, the participants will also have the
possibility to get to know the culture of the whole island, its
culinary, artistic and historic aspects. In this way, we hope to obtain
a full-scale image of the conflict in all its objective and subjective
aspects at the end of the Case Study Trip.

At the last day of these two weeks a public panel discussion will
be held in Nicosia, where the participants will present how they
understand
the conflict. On the basis of these results, representatives of
international organisations and institutions as well as people from
both communities will discuss the future of the island, including
