first-ever AEGEE European Boards’ Meeting has been launched last week in
Valletta, Malta with the presence of the Hon. Dr. Michael Frendo –
Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr.Francis A.Borg – Director for EU Affairs
and Policy Developmentin the Ministry of Education, Youth and Employment;
Ms.Silvia Baita – President, AEGEE-Europe; Mr. David Ciliberti –
President, AEGEE-Valletta later on the Maltese MEP Joseph Muscat also took
part at the workshops and will be contributing further to this
theme. |

:: European-wide action week againt racism :: | ||||
From the 14th till the 21st of March Europe celebrated the European-wide Action Week Against Racism. AEGEE-Europe and its Human Rights Working Group was organising an international "Human Rights Fair" during the European Boards Meeting in Valletta last week. The fair to in form of an interactive exhibition with info stands and a media campaign about human rights awareness and promotion of activism. The main important stands focused on the Case Study Trip Migration, which includes Xenophobia, Racism, Discrimination and The Bridge project whose main aim is to enable disabled youth to actively participate in creating and developing civil society. |

:: Summer University project 2005 :: | ||||
The Summer
University application is open; all the member of AEGEE can apply until
3rd of May via the SU web page www.aegee.org/su. This is the most famous
and successful project in AEGEE, which started in 1988, takes place each
year and involves more than 150 cities and 6000 students in 30 different
European countries. This project has been developed by AEGEE-Europe as the
main tool to promote European Integration among young citizens. |

:: Building Bridges – European Conflict Areas :: | ||||
"Building Bridges - European Conflict Areas" is an international conference that will take place between 28th and 30th of April in Lodz, Poland. It is organized by the European Students’ Forum AEGEE: AEGEE-Lodz local and International Politics Working Group of AEGEE-Europe with support of the Lodz City Office, University of Lodz, European Institute, American Embassy and Expressis Verbis Association. This event is perceived as a huge step in innovative approach to education about peace and stability process. During three days diplomats, students, journalists and academics will focus on Central and Eastern Europe conflict areas and their influence on the future of Europe. Debates will highlight the problem of Ukrainian elections, situation in Caucasus area and Balkans region, influence of Israeli-Palestinian relations on European countries’ policy and the role of the Russian Fedaration in international and diplomatic relations, without which a security on “Old Continent” is hard to imagine. All the issues will be presented by highly experienced speakers. The special guests of conference will present inovative ideas for peaceful Europe. |

The Youth on the Move:
Let’s go global! is an International Conference organized by the Youth
& Globalisation Project Team of AEGEE-Europe in collaboration with
AEGEE-Maastricht, having the financial support of the European Youth
Foundation.
This international Conference seeks to gather 100 active youths from all over Europe in order to explore and act on new efficiently working tools and strategies for promoting a bolder active young citizenship in local communities, thus making globalisation work also at the grass-root level. Indeed, major focus throughout the conference will be made on youth empowerment, peace and stability, intercultural dialogue, social cohesion and sustainable economic development. |
