The Youth for Change - 20 years of AEGEE
 
On 22nd – 25th September 2005, about 300 AEGEE members, representatives from all the relevant international Youth NGOs with politicians will meet in Praha to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the European Students Forum, review its work and achievements to date, and discuss its future development.
The three days long conference will be filled with lectures by high-profile speakers, with plenary discussions, intensive workshops and panel discussions with experts on the topics.
 
The European Constitutional Treaty - Non, nee; and now ?
o The ratification process, its failure and its future
o Its content - Progress and/or problems ?
o Why do we need a constitution for the EU ?
 
The Future of Europe - Europe ŕ la carte ?
o Multi-speed Europe (like Euro, CSFP) as best option for further integration ?
o Does this mean a failure or an empowerment of the EU ?
o Does this necessarily mean a "core EU" and "second-class" member-states ?
o The end of expansion: what are the perspectives for "privilegedmember" status ?
 
NGO's in Europe - Their role for shaping Europe's future ?
o What responsibilities and difficulties of NGO's ?
o Between competition and co-operation - the impact of NGO's ?
o NGO's as a playground for the leaders of tomorrow ?
 
Youth Mobility and Higher Education
o Future of Erasmus/Socrates & Bologna process - enlargement to SEE/Caucasus?
o Visa Freedom Fighters: Student/youth visa – a visa for AEGEE?
 
Democracy and Peace in Europe
o Minorities, xenophobia and human rights - managing ethnic diversity ?

The students will be joined by Czech and European politicians, speakers from international institutions and representatives from other organisations, who will contribute their views on the role of youth activism in general in promoting a unified, peaceful and democratic Europe.
