(Background: Historia De Un Amor by your previously resident moronic genius,  now promoted to a roving Casanova Troubadour)

As an educator allow me to continue my selfless, unrelenting service to humanity, this time by sharing some advices I recently gave to a lovely, future Computer Scientist.

She was originally from Colombia and we inadvertently met during the Peter Serkin recital at Town Hall in Manhattan. This was just after we both, but unbeknown to each other then, attended the highly successful United for Peace and Justice, Protest Parade and Rally http://livinggracefully.com/united_for_peace_and_justice_may_1.htm.

After some lively discussions over coffee about neuro-computing, quantum physics, nanotechnology, science fiction, music, we parted as friends with the hope of continuing our correspondence. She had to return to Cambridge to finish her Ph.D. dissertation regarding the application of massively parallel computing in biotechnology.

She later responded to my e-mail with some food for thought:

Hi Jesus,

How is everything going? ‘hope well.

You know, the other day I finished reading the Richard Feynman’s book
called "The Pleasure of Finding Things Out All." The book is really
fascinating from start to end. He, as you surely know, was a physicist
whose research was basically focused on quantum mechanic. Well with no more preambles, he suggested some topics in science that should be widely
considered in order to undergo the strength the revolution of technology.

One of his, perhaps, most precise quotation is the fact that physics is the
mother of everything, and for that the attention should be put to this
subject, in that sense if you have a closer look to the atom structure and
the way its electrons are arranged to compose a molecule, and then
according to the its electrons disposition on the outer level, it will
determine how this atom can join one or more atoms to, again, create a
macromolecule. Then the theory and the reality are evident, for that the
new research has to be focused on this concept, how to create thing at the
nano-level. …

That book can give you a big idea about the new research trends, even
though it was written years ago.

One the other hand, I'm reading Thomas Friedman's book, the Lexus and the
Olive Tree. I cannot believe he's a New York Times’ journalist that cover
International affairs, yet he speaks the same language as Feynman, He has
the same viewpoint, however he's very keen on the idea of globalization,
when it is well adopted.

I want to ask you, what is the way to start getting involved in the stock
market business?

Have a good day,

How to Create an Extremely Successful Investment Portfolio http://livinggracefully.com/Financial%20Newsletter/Monthly%20Detailed%20Financial%20Newsletter%20Announcement.htm, my latest write-up she must have read by now.

In a subsequent message, however, she mentioned the G8 meeting and also wanted to know how a friend of hers can start writing. And I responded

Yes, I am fully aware of the importance and consequence of the G8 meeting. As a matter of fact the recently concluded worldwide concert Global Aid Concert Kicks Off was mentioned in a previous writing.

ANNOTATION

In this basic introduction to investing, the bestselling author of One Up on Wall Street and Beating the Street explains in a style accessible to anyone high school age or older how to read a stock table, how to understand a company annual report, and why everyone should pay attention to the stock market. Lynch explains not only how to invest, but how to think like an investor.

FROM THE PUBLISHER

Many investors, including some with substantial portfolios, have only the sketchiest idea of how the stock market works. The reason, say Lynch and Rothchild, is that the basics of investing - the fundamentals of our economic system and what they have to do with the stock market - aren't taught in school. At a time when individuals have to make important decisions about saving for college and 401(k) retirement funds, this failure to provide a basic education in investing can have tragic consequences. In Learn to Earn, Lynch and Rothchild explain in a style accessible to anyone who is high-school age or older how to read a stock table in the daily newspaper, how to understand a company annual report, and why everyone should pay attention to the stock market. They explain not only how to invest, but also how to think like an investor.
