Hello AEGEE people,

New Year - New Plans? Do you already know what to do in New Year 2006?

Why not taking part in the one of the biggest chances for your antennae - Information Technology European School?

This is the great opportunity for AEGEE members and all AEGEE locals to widen IT knowledge and develope skills. This time ITES will be in Tartu!

What do you know about IT?

Are you always looking amazed at other people achieving most incredible things on their computer screens?

And whenever they offer to help you, you don't really know what to ask for and where to start?

IT is like speaking a different language. It happens very often that you want a website that functions for PR and FR purposes, you ask an expert to work on it, and in the end it turns out that you have a tool not really reaching the goal that you were aiming for.

In IT your only limitation is your imagination!!! During 5 days of extremely interesting workshops not only will we show you what are the possibilities in AEGEE-IT to help you and your project trigger off and develop, but we will go further!

We are going to give you insights into new technologies that will enable you to simplify the organization of conferences, panel discussions, etc.

We will teach you what to ask for and how to achieve brilliant results, making sure that you can also do it all yourself afterwards ;-).

IT is a part of our life…

AEGEE has always had an innovative approach to Information Technology. We were one of the firsts to begin to use E-mail and listservers as a mean of communication. At the present moment AEGEE is depending on a lot of different Information & Communication Technologies (ICT). Especially since AEGEE has Antenna and Contacts in more than 250 cities within 35 countries in Europe and is still growing, communication is heavily influenced and relies on ICT.

Aim of the IT European School

The aim of an ITES is to transfer the accumulated knowledge of AEGEE's current IT-cracks to new members, so that they will know the ICT used within AEGEE and are able to design and implement new uses with them. After following courses of the ITES, the participants will be able to set-up and maintain list- and webservers, create applications in Lotus Notes and Access, have a basic understanding of internetworking technologies and know AEGEE's current installed base concerning the IT-infrastructure. They will also be able to act as teachers at coming ITESs, European Schools and Regional Meetings.

But remember: ITES is not for IT specialists.

During these couple of days you will be given various insights into Windows, Networking, Internet telephoning, web design, mailing lists, functional databases, privacy policy, new technologies, viruses, etc. But there is much more to it... AEGEE Tartu people are waiting in anticipation to welcome you to their city and spend 6 incredible days and wild nights full of fun, crazy parties and romance!!! As it is the coldest time of the year in Estonia, you can expect sauna parties and much more.

This ITES is meant for those currently working on the European level (or having aspiration to join it): Project Managers, Commission and Working Group members. It will give you all the insights you need to successfully communicate with IT experts in order to maximize PR, FR and project management efforts during your work in AEGEE.

Deadline of closing the application forms is coming soon!
