"Shooting Europe!" The European Short Film Festival

organized by the European Students' Forum - AEGEE invites you to its second edition: 24 - 28 May 2006 in Karlsruhe (Germany). The festival is to be a platform for young amateur and professional moviemakers to show their work to the public and to create a new perspective on European issues.

Designed as AEGEE's novel approach to promoting the idea of an integrated Europe among young people, the Shooting Europe Festival aims to provoke original scenarios and involve the participants in active discussions. Since movies are a very influential instrument of communication, preparing them in advance and making use of them should be an attractive way of dealing with the issues of Human Rights, Intercultural Dialogue and European issues.

Therefore, this event combines art and creativity with thematic work on common social issues and cultural diversity.

The programme will not only consist of screening movies but also of discussions with the producers and invited guests who are professionally connected with the cinema industry. Every day will be devoted to the separate category:

Human rights - be their lawyer or their judge;
Cultural differences - show what you have encountered

My Europe - express your feeling!

Movie makers: young (age range: 18-30), creative people, amateurs or professionally shooting movies, interested in issues touched on by the categories.

Participants and moviemakers as well as invited guests coming from various European countries for one particular happening - Shooting Europe - represent different cultural backgrounds, different attitudes. This kind of 'confrontation' will allow everyone to see and discuss problems and issues in a different light.

 Movies works of 2-30 minutes can be sent till the 15th of April. This is also the deadline for applications for participants at the event.
