Fall Agora 2006 – Time for
Daring
From 2 till 5 November AEGEE-Napoli, AEGEE-Europe and the
Municipality of Napoli organised the main
statutory event of AEGEE. Over 1000 people coming from all around
Europe had the opportunity to stay together discussing future
projects, electing our representatives or simply having fun and
enjoy the European identity together during four unforgettable days.
Organizing an Agora is something special, full of emotions and it
needed huge efforts from AEGEE-Napoli, the Chair Team and the Comitè
Directeur, but in the end just watching a plenary room full of
people clapping their hand for you, pays back and gives even more
for all that you did. That’s why to all the locals thinking about
organizing an Agora WE can just say it’s the best choice ever and
we’re all here grateful for it.

Organized crimes - Youth NGOs against
Between 30th October and 2nd November 2006, in Roma has
taken place the pre-Agora "Organized Crimes: Youth NGOs
Against". During this event there was a conference, with about
200 students, in order to deal with this delicate topic and the
fight against it starting from the Italian roots and then giving it
a broader dimension, thanks to the help of some experts, as,
first of all, dr. Pietro Grasso, Chief Prosecutor of the
Italian Antimafia Department. We've talked about the organized
crime also in some European countries, in South America, Japan,
China, etc. During the conference some different workshops have been
organized thanks to the collaboration of different NGOs as IAPPS
Roma Tre, Erasmus In Campus, Erasmus Roma Tre and Best La Sapienza.
We believe that this event was the first step in order to show
as the Youth can act concretely in this matter and we hope that some
locals will be interested in following our example organizing a
conference about this topic.

Cooking with FUN around the
ETNA
November 6th – 10th 2006. 16 European heroes went to Sicily to
discover the secrets of Sicilian energy and happiness. They were
lodged in a castle (flat really) just 10m far from the sea
and many of them woke up having a bath in that sea. They
discovered the hidden ingredients of Frappè alla Nutella, the way to
make a good Pizza and the magic word “Arancini”. During the
night, they climbed Etna to see, as near as possible, the LAVA… and
the surrounding wonderful landscape. They also visited Taormina
and the Greek theatre, where they prepared CANNOLI with “ricotta”
and chocolate cream. Now many European countries know our
secrets… there is more energy and more happiness all around

First European School 1 event in Ukraine
completed as success
Odessa was the location to host the first European School 1
to take place in Ukraine. The participants of the one week training
event all traveled for at least one whole day to reach their
destination but still found the long way more than worth
the effort. 22 dedicated Europeans coming from Madrid till
Moscow gathered from the 17th till the 26th of November to gather
new experiences in international teamwork, to broaden their hard and
soft skills and to deepen their understanding of Europe and AEGEE.
Next to the intensive program consisting of lectures and case work
the parties will certainly not be forgotten. Not only due to the
great motivation of the participants but also because of the perfect
organization of AEGEE Odessa the ES1 Odessa turned out a real
success. Now the participants are back in their home
antennae to implement the things they have just learnt, to
realize their new ideas and to spread the AEGEE spirit. After being
active in their locals most are already looking forward to also
starting their activities on the European level of
AEGEE.
The next European School 1 will take place in
Canakkale, Turkey from the 24th of March till the 1st of April
2007.

2006 - a good year for
languages
Our dreams came true this year: 33 locals honoured our invitation
and celebrated the EDL! You can find out about their “adventures in
Language Land” in our next EDL-brochure. Coming up very soon… But
let us tell you some things about what happened on the 23rd of
November…
In AEGEE Cluj-Napoca, the sparkly celebrations started with their
traditional language fair. Colours, flags, books and magazines,
French accent, Russian “Matrioshkas” and Romanian folk costumes,
music and laughter filled the day and their hearts. And our spies
(who saw everything) whisper that they even had cookies and goodies
for participants and guests who visited the 20 language-stalls…
Hmmm, I wish I had been there! The day ended with an international party, were
Romanians and Erasmus students danced all night and shared their
multicultural experience.
AEGEE-Nis is also very proud to have been a part of European Day
of Languages project. Their event ("Speak Serbian so the whole world
can understand you") can only be described in one word: amazing! Ten
lucky people from all over AEGEE (Skopje, Ljubljana, Kyiv, Moscow)
had the chance to learn basic Serbian language, Cyrillic letters and
Balkanian history through lectures and workshops. They practiced
these in a “kafana” (traditional Serbian restaurant), in famous
cafés in Nis and many other interesting places that they visited.
Curious about it? Visit www.aegee-nis.org.yu !
For the celebrations in 2006, the Council of Europe decided to
publish our anniversary booklet and the list of EDL-organizing AEGEE
locals on their website, giving us more visibility than ever
before.

Network Meeting Gdansk (17-19 November 2006)
The future starts today – that was the motto of Network Meeting
perfectly organized by AEGEE-Gdansk in co-operation with Network
Commission. The event attracted 100 participants who have taken part
in workshops e.g. about communication, marketing or time management.
The spirit of intercultural co-operation was present also during
very entertaining social program that did not let anybody to sleep
too much.
