Winter Beach Party - We have snow and we are
hearty
On the 1st December 2006 AEGEE Tallinn held it's
15th birthday party in Tallinn Stroomi beach house. Including the
snow in the title of our birthday celebration might have been
a slight miscalculation thus we had to be twice as hearty and even
more fun. It was a warm night in the cold Estonian winter as the
present and former members of AEGEE-Tallinn, members of
AEGEE-Tartu and AEGEE-Riga met to look back on the 15 years of
activity. Also present were the representatives of ESN Tallinn and
IC Tallinn as they deserved the praise for helping out AEGEE-Tallinn
on numerous occasions during the past years. It was a warm and
festive get together, reminding everyone feeling associated to
AEGEE-Tallinn what it is that this name stands for.

Nova Gorica & Gorizia – 2 cities, 1
spirit
On the train back from Napoli we got an idea we could organize an
event…and it happened. From 1st – 3rd December 2006 nine
participants gethered in small nice city at italian boarder
called Nova Gorica. Already the first night we found out that we're
really great group of wonderful young people. The event was full of
different activities – we went to the commune to see the life of
(ex) drug addicts, then we went to visit the monastery with tomb of
Borbouns and one of the oldest library. As the event name was Nova
Gorica&Gorizia – 2 cities, 1 spirit, we went to visit Gorizia as
well. And the next day we also went climbing and did a bit more
sightseeing. We concluded an event as we’ve started it – with a
dinner. I think it was really nice event and both, organizers and
participants, enjoyed a lot.

Global T1me 5aga and Taste Slovenian
Culture (TSDH)
At the beginning of the holiday season, between 4th and 8th
December, 20 AEGEE members from all over
Europe gathered to celebrate AEGEE-Ljubljana 15th Anniversary.
During the days participants took part at various debates
focusing on the past 15 years, and participated at creative
workshops; painting T-shirts, drawing graffiti and proving their
theatrical skills. But when night fell it was time to party. All in
all, the cake was delicious, champagne yummy and the celebration
atmosphere in full swing all the time.
Together with 60 other AEGEE members, the participants joined the
post-event in Kranjska Gora, which took place between 8th and 10th
December as a part of ‘Find Europe’ project. They learned about
Slovenia, its history, culture and cuisine, participated in folklore
dancing, and competed in making the best “medica”. Don’t know what
“medica” is? Come to our event this year and find out!

Literature & Language
Exchange
In December 2006, AEGEE-Cambridge organised a one-week exchange
programme within the multilateral
Media Exchange project involving AEGEE-Istanbul, AEGEE-Madrid,
AEGEE-München and AEGEE-Wien. 10 participants enjoyed a range
of activities, including both language- and literature-related items
as well as more general activities to give the participants a sense
of Cambridge's unique character. Also included were excursions
to local places of interest, as well as a lively social
programme. Although not all the locals mentioned above were
represented, the participants that did attend gave largely positive
feedback. For many, it was their first visit to the UK, and
AEGEE-Cambridge was glad to be able to offer a rewarding
intercultural experience!

Network Meeting in Istanbul
During the NM that took place in Istanbul the main topic what is
AEGEE. The participants learned how
to do successful teamwork improved their communication skills and
tried to understand more about different cultures. Non-formal
education had its share by playing games as “the train” and “who is
guilty?” that aimed to break prejudices. The NM also taught them
about the news regarding the YOUTH program, Bologna process. The
NETCOM prepared an AEGEE presentation and also made a SWOT analyze
on the state of the locals represented at the meeting, taking into
account their problems and looking for ways to solve them. And of
course future plans are always between the favorite topics. |
The quest 4 the refill of the Holy
Grail
Getting lost on a small enough middle-age village, cradle of the
ancient Kingdom of Aragon hidden
somewhere on the mountains and only just surrounded by green fields
and high peaks, where everyday is a culture lesson and every night
is a big big party? Yes! It was so!, but not just that, it was also
an opportunity for debating about Bologna process, for trekking, for
learning Brazilian's Capoeira, for playing Paintball battles, for
performance arts, crazy games and the wildest and craziest parties
in the world, in one word... for fun!

Passion STILL lives here
The winter event of AEGEE-Torino, took place in two different
locations. First, participants had the opportunity to visit
the architecturally unique city center of Torino. Those visits comprised
the symbol of our city, the Mole Antonelliana, and the Cinema Museum
it hosts, and several other landmarks (the buildings overlooking
Piazza Statuto, Palazzo Reale and so on). In order to convey the
Olympic Winter Games atmosphere, two ice-rinks were visited: Curling
and Hockey Olympic Ice Rink. Afterwards participants moved to
Pracatinat, on the mountains that hosted the Olympics. Here
participants and organizers celebrated together the New Year's Eve.
Finally, the Egyptian Museum, the third in importance after London
and Cairo Museums, was visited.

From Sunset till Dawn...Time For
Party!!
After the Fall Agora 2006, AEGEE-Napoli is still alive, and
stronger than before!!! From “Time for Daring” to “Time for
Party”!!!! For the first time in its history, the antenna of the
city of the sun organized a NYE event. About 40 participants from
all over the Europe came to see the beauties of Napoli also during the cold winter, having
the opportunity to visit the town, with its castles, squares,
landscape, fireworks, its traditional Christmas crib market, its
wonderful sea and of course its real original PIZZA... Just 5 days
have been enough to make new friends, enjoy AEGEE-Spirit and have
unforgettable experience in an unique pan-European
atmosphere. And for the future, this NYE event is just the first
one of a long series of this kind, becoming a fixed date in AEGEE
Calendar…

Let`s burn the ICE with SPICE
From 28th December till 3rd January (year 2006) 19 wonderful and
nice AEGEE people met in Riga, Latvia to celebrate New Year and take
part in the winter university “Let`s burn the ICE
with SPICE”. Unfortunately there was no snow in the WU, although we
were praying for it already for last two weeks, BUT – in the New
Year`s eve some snowflakes felt from the skies like the present for
all of us. And we had a lot of events: dances, songs, Latvian
language and history, sports activities and survival game, city and
pub tours in Riga, sauna party, pyjama party, European night, NY
party together in an international environment, swimming in the
pound in the dark, wonderful gala party with Talent show,
performances “Stories about Latvians”, participants` (!) speech and
more other activities. Now we are sure that they will always
remember how Latvians are celebrating NY – with mummeries, rolling
the woodblock, making gingerbread and pies and decorating
Christmas-tree, songs and dances. More information at: www.aegee-riga.lv

Rome's NYE 2007: Oops we did it again!
As tradition AEGEE-Roma has organized another NYE. But this
time it has been very special because we proudly
celebrated also our 15th Anniversary! During a unique and
unrepeatable evening, we revisited the History of our Antenna thanks
to the presence on stage of the AEGEE-Roma Founders, the all
former Presidents & Board members,
together with past and present members of the
Antenna until the actual Board. Old pictures and videos
have enriched the celebration. Naturally as always our
participants have enjoyed also a smashing New Year's Eve
party, a Fraschetta night and many fantastic guided tours
of our city. |
Come2Holland4NY'06
In Leiden we celebrated New Year with a fantastic group of people
from all over AEGEE. We entertained them
with city tours in Leiden, Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Moreover, we
went swimming, ice skating, we ate 'Oliebollen', drank Champagne and
partied every night! The highlight of the event was the magnificent
formal dinner, presented by the truly amazing cooks of the Smulcom.
At midnight everyone said 'proost' followed by watching fireworks.
Of course the true fireworks of this event were the amazing
participants. We'd like to thank the entire group of participants
for the wonderful time!
