Dear AEGEEeans,

How the things are going? Some days are left for the EBM  & also for the deadline of the SU, important Project of our association; don't forget, this year the deadline is 14th February!! I suggest you to read the interesting e.mail sent by our dear Fabrizio, on behalf of the SUCT, on the AEGEE L yesterday. Anyway, I also suggest you to join to the Spring Agora Fan Club on HI5 - www.hi5.com - ( compliments to the organizers of the Spring Agora for this cool initiative!!) where is growing an AEGEE web-community!!!
Otherwise-----, two days ago, Theijs has sent an e.mail concerning an open call for the position  "Liaison Officer of AEGEE Europe towards UNESCO";  I've received some e.mails with some questions concerning the role of this body and so maybe it's better to make a short & informal AEGEE Lesson about it...

 AEGEE LESSON : LIAISON OFFICERS

Who are the Liaison Officers?

The Liaison Officers represent AEGEE-Europe towards an institution or organisation (for example UNESCO or European Youth Foundation) and they promote and support AEGEE's actions and projects towards the organizations that they "represent".  The CD decides for which institutions a LO should be appointed and decides on the person as well, after having addressed an open call (on the main mailing list) to the network. Anyway the decision has to be ratified by the Agora.

What’s the advantage of having LOs?

First of all the contact to institutions is very important for AEGEE (the possibility to ask for grants!!).  So we have our special agents who know everything about the policies and programmes of the organisation and inform the network about possibilities of application for those grants – so the chance for receiving them is higher.

-->> Who are currently the others "Agents" (LOs) ?? You can discover it clicking at this link http://www.karl.aegee.org/ab.nsf/AEGEE%20locals%20and%20bodies?OpenView&count=500

The tasks that the liaison officer should do are:

*Ensuring AEGEE's active presence and involvement in the UNESCO bodies of which we are member and constant contact with UNESCO's committees and sections dealing with Youth and/or NGOs (Joint Programmatic Commission Youth, NGO Liaison Committe etc.)

*Keep a permanent contact with the CD and the Network, informing both about potential cooperation, grant opportunities, and fields of involvement where AEGEE can contribute.

*Representing and lobbying for the interests of AEGEE-Europe in UNESCO.

*Advise the CD and the Network on future steps regarding UNESCO

*Stay in contact with the Project Manager of Education Unlimited!

More information can be found in the open call via: www.aegee.org/events ordirect via:

http://www.karl.aegee.org/calendar.nsf/DeadlinesLookup/6F9EDFA9B558F8C3C125727200361E55   [ DEADLINE 20 TH FEBRUARY!!!]

...Well, I hope now you know more about the LOs,  anyway don't hesitate to contact for all!!! Don't forget it!

-->>> If  you didn't receive the Calendar 2007, contact me with an e.mail or in MSN and I'll send it! I know some locals are still waiting for it  <<<---

ps: Congratulations to the new boards of Verona & Padova!! I'm going to visit AEGEE Verona & AEGEE Venezia during the next week ( 9th-11th February), just few time before the EBM.

AEGEEfully Yours,

Your Netcommie

Dino
