AEGEE LAUNCHES 'YOUROPE NEEDS YOU!' PROJECT IN LEIDEN

The European Students' Forum (AEGEE) launches the YOUrope Needs YOU! Project with a first training session in Leiden, the Netherlands, from 8 until 13 October 2008. YOUrope needs YOU! aims at empowering high school students in different countries all over Europe to become active members of European society.

YOUrope Needs YOU!
Through workshop sessions at high schools conducted by university students who are members of AEGEE, the project intends to raise awareness on current European matters, show the practical opportunities Europe offers, and encourage youth to seize these opportunities. The use of interactive non-formal education methods will allow the participating high school students to improve their understanding of common European values and perspectives. The sessions will be organised by students for students – a great basis for sharing idealism and the conviction to act and experience Europe.

YOUrope Needs YOU! Trainings in Leiden and Passau
The project is launched with two trainings in Leiden (Netherlands, 8-13 October) and Passau (Germany, 21-26 October) each lasting 6 days. The trainings aim at providing members of AEGEE and its partner organisations with the soft skills needed to work with high school students, conduct workshops, facilitate discussions, as well as provide a thematic background.

AEGEE
AEGEE (Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l'Europe / European Students' Forum) is a student organisation that promotes co-operation, communication and integration amongst young people in Europe. As a non-governmental, politically independent and non-profit organisation AEGEE is open to students and young professionals from all faculties and disciplines – today it counts 15.000 members, active in more than 240 university cities in 43 European countries.
