YOUrope needs YOU! Last training in Çanakkale (Turkey)

AEGEE’s project makes more students fit for voluntary work in high schools.

The European Students’ Forum (AEGEE) now presents the last training for multipliers of the first cycle. The ambitious project is hosted by the local group in Çanakkale, Turkey. YOUrope needs YOU aims to empower high school students to become active members of the European society.

YOUrope Needs YOU - a project under the umbrella of AEGEE

Idealism. Creativity. Dedication. Aspiration. Dreams. The YOUrope needs YOU project seeks to fill these words with a meaning. The project aims to raise awareness among high school students about active citizenship, European matters and values. Moreover, by this project high school students have the chance to learn more about opportunities Europe offers and are encouraged to take the advantage of these opportunities. Workshop sessions at high schools will be organized by university student trainers who are members of different NGO’s. Using non-formal education techniques, there will be a great chance for high schools students to improve their understanding of Europe matters and values. Furthermore, a great basis for sharing idealism and belief to act can be created through these sessions organized by students for students.

Studying at the seaside: Çanakkale, 25 to 30 March, 2009

To reach the main aims, several trainings are being launched all over Europe. Çanakkale is the last one of the first cycle after successful trainings in Leiden (Netherlands), Passau (Germany), Kraków (Poland) and Oviedo (Spain). The main aim of the trainings is to help participants gain the skills and knowledge about conducting workshops on European issues, approaching high school students and giving them the inspiration of using the opportunities Europe offers. The last training course incorporates lessons learnt from the previous ones and will be even closer to real life workshop situations than before. For example, the participants will simulate talks with school headmasters and prepare a prototype workshop session to be implemented in a high school.
