Dear all
it is with great pleasure that we invite you and your
friends to the 3rd edition of MediolaMUN, the Model United Nations that
will be held at the University of Milano Bicocca
and University of
Milano on May 12 - 16, 2010.
This event, sponsored by the University of Milano Bicocca (www.unimib.it) and
University of Milano (www.unimi.it)
has been organised by our partner association ISAWO (World Organisation
of International Students Associations - www.isawo.org), under the patronage of the Council
of Europe, of the Lombardy region, and of the Province and the
Municipality of Milan.
There will be around 200 people involved in the event as delegates,
organizers, public and guests, and the whole event will be free.
The
association ISAWO interested in international issues and involved in
cultural activities, 2 years ago decided to promote activities of United
Nations organizing the MUN.
Three days of fruitful debate, peaceful cooperation on global issues,
final resolutions that will hopefully be voted and approved, the
possibility to learn how the council work, to speak in front of hundreds
of people in a foreign language (English); but also three days of fun,
with the occasion to make new friendships with people from all over the
world: this is what we expect from MediolaMUN.
“Knowing to understand” is the motto of the event, this means the
MediolaMUN is an opportunity to meet people from other country and make
new friendship is the base to understand the cultures and the behaviors
of other countries.
Students will not represent their countries, thus this is another
occasion to know better the world studying the policies of a foreign
country and trying to defend their reasons in front of the assembly. The
arguments that will be discussed are very stimulating because they are
taken from the real agenda of UN. As a matter of fact this experience
throughout our school careers taught us how to use English like
diplomats do, how to find the courage to stand up and speak in front of
hundreds of delegates; and finally it gave us the chance to meet special
people who are still a part of our life.
