Dear Network,
This year AEGEE-Valletta and the
international politics working group (IPWG) within AEGEE Europe have
joined forces to work on a large project entitled the European Youth
Conference (
EYC) | Malta 2011, the first of it's
type within our network. The conference will be held in Malta and the
theme chosen for this year is Empower Youths - learn, decide, implement.
The main aim behind this conference is to empower youths to gain the
ability and authority to make decisions in order to be able to
implement positive changes in areas that will effect present and future
societies. The five day conference which is planned to take place in mid
September 2011 will be tackling five main topics. These will include:
- Politics
- Social Affairs
- Entrepreneurship
- Economy
- Environment
Each
and every topic will have a particular subject. For instance
entrepreneurship will be focusing on how to establish a business through
means of a business simulation. Social affairs will include a topic
related to the European year of volunteering with a possibility of hands
on experience. Information about each subject will be given at a later
stage.
The conference will be hosting a total of 100 youths from all over
Europe. The type of participants we are looking for should be interested
in the topic and more important have some knowledge about the subject
itself. Each topic will have a total number of 20 participants and
participants will have the opportunity to choose the area of interest
they want to participate in.
Coming to the scope of this email:
As AEGEE-Valletta always
did in the past, our aim remains to deliver top quality events. As you
understand this will require a large amount of money that needs to be
invested in this conference. Therefore AEGEE-Valletta have opt to apply
for funds through the European for Citizenship fund. Due to the nature
of the application, prior to the submission of the application we
require a total number of twenty partners/antennas that will be ready to
commit themselves to send five participants to this conference.
In order to apply to be one of our partners, kindly click
here.
The
job of the partners will be to promote the conference through their
local members in order to encourage them to apply for the conference.
The selection of participants will be made through another open call
that the
EYC team will make later on this year. It is important to note that the selection of the participants will be made by the
EYC team and only youths coming from the selected partners/antennas will be able to apply.
The deadline of the application to become one of our partners is
Sunday, 16th January 2011, 12:00 GMT (+1). The selection of partners
will start off once the application is closed. Each antenna will be
contacted once the selection process is over.
At present the
EYC team is working hard to
build up a good application for it to be successful however we reserve
every right to cancel, amend or down size the conference in case the
application is not chosen and funds are not given.
