AEGEE's reaction to Mc Kinsey report, highlighting some of the problems behind youth unemployement

“In Europe, 74% of education providers were confident that their graduates were prepared for work, but only 38% of youth and 35% of employers agreed” states the Mc Kinsey report, which was released mid-January 2014. This statement, based on a meticulous research carried out toward 5,300 youth, 2,600 employers, and 700 post-secondary education providers across 8 countries, brings to light the difference of perspectives and the lack of clear understanding among Education providers on the reality of the situation for young people willing to enter the job market.

The Eastern Partnership Project prepares for a second edition

The Eastern Partnership Project concluded last November in Autumn Agora Zaragoza, where their results were presented. But that does not mean it is over. The latest developments in the countries of the Eastern Partnership, and especially the EaP Summit in Vilnius, have shown that there is still a lot of work to do, and so The AEGEEan has spoken to Adrian Browarczyk (AEGEE-Poznan), Project Manager of the new Eastern Partnership Project, about their future plans.

Comic strip competition on “Democracy and Human Rights at School”

A comic strip competition on the theme “Democracy and human rights at school” was initiated by the Council of Europe in December 2013 within the framework of the EU/CoE Pilot Projects Scheme “ Human Rights and Democracy in Action”.

Nantes Creative Generations European youth initiative Forum

Together with local associations, the City of Nantes and Nantes Metropole are organizing on 22-25 October 2014 the next edition of Nantes Creative Generations European youth initiative Forum.
 
During 3 days in Nantes, young people involved in innovative projects designed to strengthen the no­tion of citizenship, of «living together» are invited to present initiatives, debate, share experiences, improve skills and take part in cultural events. As well as showcasing their own projects, participants will learn from peers across Europe and gain better understanding of the European dimension of local projects.
 
Transport, accommodation and food costs of participants are covered by Nantes Métropole (Maximum 2 participants per project).

In the frame of its work on recognition of youth work and non-formal learning/education, the EU-CoE youth partnership publishes a Call for experts-authors for the elaboration of two [online] publications:

1/ a “Mapping of existing tools and good examples of practices at European and national level” and
2 /a “Compendium of testimonies and stories on the impact of youth work and non-formal learning/education”.

The deadline to apply is 20th of March 2014 using the form for expression of interest.
