Hangout: Perks of being an entrepreneur

The Youth Employment Working Group is organizing a Hangout on 13th of December at 17:00 (CET). Our special guest will be Eloi Gómez Cal (AEGEE-León). He will have a discussion with you about the perks of being an entrepreneur and how to start a business, raise money, and the down and bright sides of his career. Photobloggers wanted - deadline extended

Do you have a passion for photography and journalism? Do you like getting to know people and discovering their stories? Do you want to find out how people relate to ‘Europe’? Then become a reporter for Faces of Europe, a photoblog launched by the Your Vision for EUrope project. It aims to collect and spread the faces and voices of people from different backgrounds and to find out what ‘Europe’ means to them. Find more info here.

Organize a structured discussion about Civic Education

The Civic Education Working Group has prepared an easy discussion exercise that you can implement in your antenna about which topics should be part of civic education. You will contribute to shape AEGEE's opinion about one of our Focus Areas and help your antenna to fulfil the antenna criteria. Read more about how to organize it and send us the results.

AEGEE at the Council of Members of the YFJ

AEGEE was represented at the CoMem of the European Youth Forum (YFJ) last weekend in Madrid by our president, Aleksandra Kluczka, and our Liaison Officer towards YFJ, Paul Smits. Besides discussing with other youth organisations, the CoMem was the opportunity for AEGEE to present a thematic square on the topic of Civic Education which stirred a great interest from the Member Organisations!
 

AEGEE at the statutory event of ESTIEM

AEGEE was invited to attend last week the Council Meeting of ESTIEM (European STudents of Industrial Engineering and Management) in Vienna and learn more about some of its current projects. We got to know ESTIEM's current projects (do the names Brain Trainer, Business Booster or Europe3D ring a bell?), and an iea how their statutory events are. We look forward to further cooperation!

The European Movement's Members Council

The European Movement International held last Friday its Members' Council. The European Movement is a network of organisations that has mobilised citizens and advocated for a democratic, federal and enlarged union since 1948, and AEGEE-Europe, as one if its member organisations, was present there and discussed the position of EMI on topics such as migration, Economic and Monetary Union, security, democracy and the digital agenda. The Spring Agora 2016 will take place in Bergamo from the 18th until the 22nd of May. We approached the organisers, asking them to reveal us some of the details regarding the event.

Each month The AEGEEan elects its Local of the Month and AEGEE-Osnabrück totally deserves our attention by organising in May an amazing NWM.

Member of the Month - Agora Edition: Philipp Blum

For the first time, we collected nominations for Local and Member of the Month during the Autumn Agora Kyïv Fair. We received a lot of nominations and we elected our Member of the Month (MOM) – Agora Edition: Philipp Blum from AEGEE-Aachen.

On the spotlight: AEGEE and migration

Several AEGEE locals are organising many activities and initiatives related to the topic of migration. At AEGEE-Europe's website, we recently published an article by AEGEE-Budapest about an event they organised with Project for a Democratic Union.

Among many other events taking place all over the Network, we got to know that the participants at Network Meeting Sofia went to the 
photography exhibition 'Welcome to the West' on the refugees in Bulgaria, lead by two Spanish artists. Moreover, several AEGEE locals are releasing their own statements on the current situation, such as AEGEE-Brescia, AEGEE-Utrecht, AEGEE-Aachen and more.

Cascais - European Youth Capital for 2018

The Portuguese city of Cascais was selected as the European Youth Capital for 2018 by the European Youth Forum! The results were announced last weekend, at its Council of Members. Cascais has a population of around 6,500 people, out of which 40% are under 35. Cluj-Napoca is currently our European Youth Capital for 2016, and before Cascais, it will be followed by Gəncə in 2016 and Varna in 2017.

Online Linguistic Support - make the most of Erasmus+!

Tearing down language barriers has never been easy. However, if you are an Erasmus+ student or a European Voluntary Service Volunteer, you can take advantage of the Online Linguistic Support, a platform launched by the European Commission to support mobility students in such an endeavour.

The OLS is available for German, English, Spanish, French, Italian and Dutch, which are the main languages for about 90% of all Erasmus+ mobilities. You might want to check it if you are kicking off your EVS or Erasmus semester in any of the countries where these languages are spoken!
