Dear Network,

The last few days have been sad days for Europe - first, another terrorist attack hit Turkey once again, this time in Istanbul. Secondly, the attacks in  Brussels last Tuesday. In both cases, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. We condemn the attacks and stand strong against violence and fear, which can never be a solution.

However, we also got the great news that 1,114 people have applied for one of our biggest statutory events in a long time, Spring Agora Bergamo! Do not hesitate to check the pre-events in the area, and many other opportunities where you can take part. As always, we wish you a nice reading of this newsletter issue!

Europeanly yours,

the Comité Directeur 2015-2016

Civic Debate Online: Human Rights are Outdated

In order to strengthen civic competences in AEGEE, the Civic Education Working Group has been promoting debating throughout the year. Today we are taking the debate online for the first time, with a topic that challenges the very basis of our organisation! We start we an assumption: Are human rights outdated or still important? Two members of the CEWG are discussing it with a defending and an opposing motion. You can also have your say joining the discussion on the forum.

Six Things AEGEEans Always Say

Members of AEGEE… these legendary creatures with their own rituals that they might be as a sect (minus the mystic leader). We are aware that we use a different language full of abbreviations, so here are six things that we always say. And if you’ve never said or heard them, either you are not in AEGEE or last time you were in an AEGEE event was when dinosaurs walked the earth.

ESN International's statement on the efforts of ESN Spain

After the passing of 14 Erasmus students at the terrible traffic accident in Freginals (Spain), AEGEE-Europe recognises the efforts of the members of ESN Spain and its local sections in the Barcelona area, showing an exceptional sense of diligence and cooperation with the police and local authorities in the area, in spite of such tragic news and difficult times. You can read ESN International's press release on the matter here.

In this regard, AEGEE would like to show its full support to our colleagues of Erasmus Student Network, Erasmus Student Network Barcelona and the Universitat de Barcelona and express its disposal to help in the matter.

'Entrepreneurship Education at School in Europe' report released

Why is education on entrepreneurship important? In the context of high youth unemployment, economic crises and rapid changes related to our complex knowledge-based economy and society, transversal skills such as entrepreneurship are essential not only to shape the mindsets of young people, but also to provide the skills, knowledge and attitudes that are central to developing an entrepreneurial culture in Europe.
