Erasmus Vote Power - Call for Ambassadors

Are you currently in exchange for study or work? Are you doing a EVS? Are you residing abroad? You can be the Ambassador of your hosting country for GaragErasmus European elections campaign!
GaragErasmus wants to engage with the Erasmus Generation to raise awareness on the upcoming European Parliament elections, especially focusing on how people currently in mobility can cast their vote for the elections from their host countries. [More information here]
Become an Ambassador [link here] and you will have the chance to: take part in a training event organised inside the European Parliament in Brussels on the 8th of February; receive promotional material on the European elections and how to vote from abroad; act like and Ambassador and organise your own event in your host-country to spread information.

We are Europe Citizens' Agora

In the context of raising populism in Europe, where civil society actors operate in hostile political environments when democracy and rule of law are endangered, and 6 months prior the European Parliament elections, this We are Europe Agora in Budapest aims to stimulate and organise a reflection and debate on these issuesand their future of Europe involving civil society actors and political representatives from European Union member states and particular from the Visegrad countries. The event will gather 60 participants from different European countries and activists and representatives from civil society, politics and academia from Hungary.

How can the European Parliament better interact with youth organisations? How can we communicate better with young people? What do youth organisations and the public they represent need and want from the EP?
Have your say in what the EP should do for youthis the event organised on 7 March 2019 by the Youth Outreach Unit of the European Parliament.
During this event, organised in a fully participatory format, we invite youth organisations from all EU countries to tell us what the EP could do for them and the public they represent. The most concrete and realistic ideas resulting from the event will become part of the Youth Outreach Unit annual programme.

Youth Development News

  • Mental Health Europe launched an interactive map on which you can find information on helpline and other resources for young people regarding mental health. More information here.
  • The new budget of the EU for 2019 has been approved. The focus on young people continues and this can be seen by for example the increased amount of money Erasmus+, The Youth Employment Initiative and the European Solidarity Corps. More info here and here.
  • The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training published "Skills forecast: trends and chalenges to 2030". A forecast about the European Labour market and its changing skills supply and demand. More info here.


 

Equal Rights news

  • Germany adopts third gender to include intersex people: From January 1st onwards, people born with not clear male or female reproductive organs can apply to have “diverse” set as their gender in official documents. Read more.
  • California adopts self-ID gender recognition law: Transgender people can now update their gender to “non-binary”, without a medicalised application process. Read more.
  • Canada’s top court ruled that LGBTQ+ rights come before religious beliefs: A christian law school made students promise not to have extra-marital or gay sex. The Supreme Court found that protecting LGBT students from discrimination trumped religious freedom. Read more.

AEGEE-Europe already successfully tested them out in European Planning Meeting in Yerevan and Smart Cities Conference in Thessaloniki. Catchbox is great to efficiently interact with your audience, by throwing the microphones.
