New EU-funded project for the Stronger Europe
AEGEE-Yerevan is happy to announce the launch of 
new 2 years long European programme "Check-in Europe". The project aims to boost the sectorial cooperation of civil society organizations and the governmental institutions, as well to promoting the European values and the idea of European integration among the young people. The programme engages with partner organizations from Georgia, Ukraine and Poland. The programme is funded by European Commission in the frame of Capacity Building In The Field of Youth 2019 (Erasmus+ KA2).

Youth Forum: Youth activism in the Euro-Mediterranean region

Are you a young researcher striving to participate in debates on security, political and social developments in the Euro-Mediterranean area?

Conceived and funded by the IEMed, the Youth Forum, gathering over 30 participants from over 10 countries, offers a unique opportunity to debate and exchange with policy makers and other young experts on key issues in the Euro-Mediterranean area and to contribute to policy shaping in the region.
This year's edition will take place in Barcelona on 16-17 June. It will focus on online and offline youth activism in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

UEF: We are Europe Citizens' Agora | Barcelona
UEF second Citizen’s Agora in the framework of the “We are Europe” project is taking place in Barcelona on 
26th of April at ESCI-UPF School of International Studies.
The Agora promotes societal engagement within the debate on the Future of Europe. It will allow you to address crucial topics such as future, challenges of democracy in Europe and the insight of local – national and European perspective on the future of Europe debate. Building on a strong coalition of civil society 
organisation, citizens and network of political stakeholders and regional authorities the Citizens’ Agora aims to encourage and strengthen European-oriented citizen participation to the European Parliament Elections 2019.

Essay contets “Creating a Society Full of Kindness”
Young people from around the world are invited to enter the 2019 International Essay Contest for Young People organized by the Goi Peace Foundation.

The theme for this year's contest is: "CREATING A SOCIETY FULL OF KINDNESS." As 20th anniversary special edition, this year’s contest involves action in addition to writing.

The deadline for entry is June 15, 2019.

Prize winners will receive a cash award and will be invited to Japan for the award ceremony. Please see the complete guidelines below or here.

The Morpheus cup is the largest European universities and graduate schools’ championship, each year gathers the best European students to compete through their projects and a day of themed open-innovation challenges. 

The Morpheus Prize is an individual or group project/startup competition submitted online on a range of categories (HealthTech, HR Tech, IoT, Costumer Experience & AI). The top three projects from each category will be invited to pitch in Luxembourg on May 22nd, overall, winners of each category will have the chance to pitch again, the same day, in front of renowned professionals. 

This event has been placed under the patronage of the European Commission since it began. This year, Mr Carlos Moedas (European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation) supports the Morpheus Cup.

European Citizenship Working Group Action Month

// What is the European Citizenship Action Month? 
It is a thematic month organized by the European Citizenship Working Group, with the aim to support the network to fulfill 
their objectives.

//What are the objectives? 
Every year during EPM the network decides on their objectives for the upcoming year and each of the Working Groups 
are working on.

The objectives in the area of European Citizenship for 2018/19 are:
1. Gain support for the reduction of mobility barriers by at least 30 decision makers.
2. Organize 3 case study trips in order to gather knowledge and advocate for more equal opportunities for young people.
3. Create a Branded Activity and involve at least 30 locals in organizing events related to it.
4. 
Organise at least 40 local activities on the functioning of European institutions.

//What do I have to do? 
We need YOUR action! Organize thematic events that are connected to the Focus Areas in your local.

that we prepared a booklet with a variety of activities, from easy to hard, from beginners to experts, that you can find here!

The ESNsurvey 2019 is here and is focusing on the impact of the abroad experience in the participation of international students in society. Does going abroad make students more engaged at a political, civil, and social level? What are the particular aspects of active citizenship gained through the abroad experience? Does this have an impact on their opinion about the European Union, as the entity that finances the Erasmus+ Programme? And on their voting behaviour? How do these elements interact with each other?

There are 3 weeks left until Agora, are you ready? Enhance your knowledge and ask your questions during yet another edition of the Agora preparation sessions!
The sessions are a part of the Agora Mentorship project by HRC and their content is created and presented by the Chair Team of AEGEE-Europe. Save the dates!

  • Brunei new law to punish homosexual sex and adultery with death sentence: In the small Asian kingdom on Borneo the new law came into force April 3rd. An international pushback demands the halt of this vicious punishments. Read more here.

  • It’s not that Grey: a guide giving concrete tools to identify, bust myths around it and fight sexual harassment. Read and download the guide here.

  • ECFR study shows immigration, not the biggest worry of many Europeans: a study by the European Council for Foreign Relations shows that despite the big populist push since 2015 immigration is not the biggest fear. Emigration, climate change, corruption, nationalism are in the top of people’s minds. Read more here.

  • How will Articficial Intelligence (AI) influence our future? AI can benefit a lot of sectors but it also brings new challenges. A pilot phase has been launched to work on ethical guidelines for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) development and implementation. More info can be found here.

  • The parliament approved the next Erasmus+ programme for 2021-2027. New: tripled budget and focus on people with fewer opportunities and new measures and actions to increase the number of participants. More info can be found here.

  • A new set of minimum right for employees in the EU, aiming to increase the working conditions. Read more here
