AEGEE NEWS

As Youth Development Working Group, we would like to remind you of our objectives of the current action agenda, in case you are planning your activity plan or figuring out what you want to do next in your local! 

There is one common objective for all the working groups:

Organise one conference or training event on the field of expertise of the Working Group.

Our specific objectives are: 

 

  • Raise awareness on mental health issues affecting young people, by empowering locals to organise 25 related activities.
  •  Support locals in organising 50 activities related to the physical health of young people. Activities related to physical health involve at least one of the following: Practicing Sports or Fitness - Workshops on Healthy Habits and a Healthy Lifestyle. 
  • Support locals in organising 3 European events, except RTCs and European Schools, having at least 4 tuition hours per day on skills.
  • Empower locals to organise 25 activities with the purpose of easing the access to the job market for young people and/or of contributing to their professional development.

Visa Research Task Force is launching a survey about visa issues among AEGEEans and possible ways to ease visa procedures. It takes 5 minutes to fill it up and you'd help them a lot by doing it!

POLICY SPOTLIGHT

Youth Development News 

  • Read more here on why it is problematic that the new European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen dropped topics of particular relevance like culture and education.
     
  • Following a seat left vacant in the European Commission by the British, members are calling for the creation of an EU "citizens commissioner". Read more here on how members plan on prioritizing the role of civil society and active citizenship.
     
  • On the 5th of September, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership Initiative. Despite celebrating success stories, members agreed that more needs to be done in order to reach acceptable standards in terms of democratization. Read more about the Eastern Partnership Initiative and its anniversary here.
     
  • A recent study requested by CULT, the European Parliament`s Committee on Culture and Education, presented the newly approved EU Youth Strategy (EUYS) which emphasizes the need for equal education opportunities for young people. It recognizes that education, and particularly initiatives that motivate young people are crucial when trying to include young people into society and active citizenship.   • A delegation of the Council of Europe was visiting Georgia to advise the newly created Youth Agency on creating participatory youth policy. In addition, they advocated for including youth in developing these policies as well as ensuring meaningful youth participation. Read more about their visit here.
