AEGEE NEWS

Dear AEGEEans!

We need your help! Or rather, our planet needs your help. The month of December marks the beginning of the new European Commission led by incoming president Ursula von der Leyen. In the agenda she set for her term in office, she promised to deliver a European "Green New Deal" (the "European Green Deal") to tackle the climate crisis Europe and the whole planet is undergoing.

As today is the first day of December, and as part of the coalition Generation Climate Europe AEGEE is founding member of, we decided to write a statement with two of our main demands and launch the social media campaign "#DontPaintItGreento make sure that European decision-makers meet our demands and act with the urgency that the situation requires.

To make sure that we are loud and clear, we need the support of as many AEGEEans, AEGEE locals and European Bodies as possible to make noise on your social media.

But how can you take part in this campaign?

It's really simple: you only need to share the post below and follow the steps below. We prepared some resources for all of you to take part as easily as it gets. The only thing you need to do is to make sure that you make a post on your personal social media and that of your local/European Body by Friday (6th) the latest and follow the four short steps below:

  • Add the visual we prepared on your posts on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
  • Add the link to our statement. Feel free to quote certain parts in your post.
  • Always use the hashtag #DontPaintItGreen but feel free to also use others such as e.g #EuropeanGreenDeal
  • Always tag the European Commission social media and those of Generation Climate Europe and AEGEE-Europe!

The climate crisis is the biggest challenge not only for the planet as a whole but particularly for our generation, as we will be the ones facing its consequences the most. We young people need to make sure that our voices are heard and taken into account, and for that, we have to be loud and clear, but most importantly, we need to be united!

Together we are more, and together we will make sure that Europe is at the forefront of the fight against climate crisis!

On the first of December, the new members of the Mediation Commission are starting their term!

The aim of the Mediation Commission is to settle cases in an amicable way and help locals, bodies and members of locals find a common ground in conflicts and decisions development.

In case of need, feel always free to contact us at [log in to unmask]!
