European School on Human Resources is a 4-day-long intensive international training course that aims to empower members of youth-led NGOs, involved in the field of Human Resources, to develop, implement and manage HR strategies in their organisations.

At European School on HR, an international team of experienced trainers will assist 20 motivated participants in gaining knowledge and skills in HR, which they can apply and multiply in their NGOs.

Open Call for Trainers: HerMainY Project!

We are currently looking for 2 trainers to deliver the training of trainers on gender mainstreaming! We are The trainers should be experienced and knowledgeable in the field of gender mainstreaming and non-formal education. This training is part of the HerMainY project, which is funded by the European Youth Foundation.
 
The training event will take place from 2-9 March 2020 in Moscow, Russia. The activity aims at increasing the knowledge and skills regarding gender mainstreaming measures in communication in local organisations.

Final Conference: Genders Mainstreaming in Youth Organisations!

We are delighted to invite you to attend the Final Conference of the GENDERS Project: Platform for the Certification of Gender-Friendly Youth Organisations! The event will take place in Brussels on the 23rd of January.

During the conference we will present the GENDERS learning platform which will aid organisations to learn more about gender mainstreaming and will instruct on how to implement a gender mainstreaming approach in their own organisation.

New Events Approval Procedure by EQAC!

The EQAC (Events Quality Assurance Committee) is glad to introduce you the new events approval procedure! To get your event approved you need to follow the events approval criteria now!

How to do that?

  • At least two months before the event you must submit:
  • The budget of the event, which must also include resources for at least two meals a day;
  • The draft programme of the event;
  • The planned accommodation of the event.

The required information mentioned above should be sent to [log in to unmask]

Be aware that cancellation of the event has to be notified to AEGEE-Europe 3 weeks in advance.

- Please keep in mind that after you send the documents, it might take some days for the EQAC team to assess them, so have patience and try to send the necessities sometime in advance before the application period starts.

Equal Rights News 

  • After a long legal battle, a Croatian court has said that a same-sex couple have the right to become foster parents – a ruling that campaigning groups have termed ‘historic’. Read more here.
     
  • Yulia Tsvetkova - from Komsomolsk-on-Amur (Russian Far East) - was found guilty of “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among minors”, an administrative offense, and fined 50,000 rubles (US$ 780) for being the administrator of two LGBTI-themed online communities. Both communities were marked “18+”, as required by Russian law, making the fine imposed on her unfounded under the homophobic Russian “gay propaganda” legislation. Read more here.
     
  • A resolution adopted by the European Parliament on 18 December made a strong call for an EU LGBTI strategy to counter the rise of official hate-speech and its consequences across the European Union. The resolution wraps up the debate on public discrimination and hate speech against LGBTI people that was held in plenary in Strasbourg on 26 November. The resolution calls on Poland to firmly condemn discrimination against LGBTI people and to revoke resolutions attacking LGBTI rights. The resolution also reiterates a call on the Commission to adopt an EU LGBTI strategy and a comprehensive, permanent and objective EU mechanism on democracy, rule of law and fundamental rights that includes the protection of LGBTI rights.   • The Rivne City Council in western Ukraine has banned the holding of equality marches. The proponents of the ban claimed that LGBT events "pose a threat to the institution of the family and include elements of a sexual or erotic nature.". The local lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community had plans to hold an event on January 1 in the regional capital located 327 kilometers west of Kyiv. Read more here.
     
  • LGBTI activists in Georgia legally challenged the 10-year ban for men who have sex with men and gay men from giving blood donations. The Constitutional Court declared on 17 December that the ban is discriminatory and unconstitutional. The Court postponed abolishment of the disputed provision until 31 March 2020.
    The Supreme Court in Spain ruled on 18 December in favour of a trans minor to change his gender marker in his ID, and endorsed for the first time this year’s Constitutional Court decision lifting the age limitation for legal gender recognition. Questions remain about the need for an assessment of “sufficient maturity and stable situation of transsexuality,” a condition set in the Constitutional Court sentence. Read more here (in Spanish).

Environmental Sustainability News 

  • On December 11th, the European Commission has presented a European Green Deal. The overarching goal is to reach climate neutrality by 2050. Moreover, the Commission wants be reduce pollution to zero and focuses on circular economy and renovation of buildings. More detailed strategies for many aspects of the European Green Deal are expected in the spring 2020. Read more here.
     
  • The Council and the European Parliament decided on a Taxonomy (a classification system), which is a framework to qualify economic activities as sustainable. It applies to European Institutions and Member States alike. Read more here.
