TRAINING COURSE: "TRAINING FOR TRAINERS" Date: 22 March - 2 April 2000 Place: European Youth Centre, Strasbourg Deadline (internal): 30 November 1999 Aims of the course: The main aim of the course "Training for Trainers" is to enable participants - within the framework of their youth organisation or association - to competently prepare, run and evaluate training activities with a European dimension. Contents of the course: * analysis of the role of training and the trainer within European youth work * introduction to and reflection about different concepts of training * the role of intercultural learning in training * reflections on Europe, ethics and values * skills training for trainers, eg. using and developing methods * understanding group dynamics, evaluation, organisation and planning etc. * the role of training young people in the building of European civil society and European integration Methodology: The course is designed to give participants the opportunity to experience, and reflect upon, being both a trainee and a trainer. The entire course is designed as a mutual learning situation, where particiapnts can compare their approaches to training and trans-national youth work. Contributions from experts in the training field will help to create the theoretical framework. Towards the end of the course, multicultural groups of participants, with the assistance of the course team, will prepare, run and evaluate a workshop for the other participants. Languages: French and English are foreseen as the working languages of the course. Participants profile: Youth workers (members of INGYO's or other youth organisations, institutions or projects) who are, or will be, responsible for one or several training activities with a European and/or international dimension during the years 2000 and 2001. In general candidates should: * be aged between 18 and 30 * be actively involved in youth work, while preparing to take on responsibilities in the field of training with an international dimension * have experience in the field of training with an international dimension * be well informed about their organisation, institution or project and be prepared to explain the training activities that they have been involved in to the other participants * be in the position to act as a trainer after the course * be able to work in one of the two working languages of the course - English and French * BE COMMITTED TO ATTEND FOR THE FULL DURATION OF THE COURSE AND BE SUPPORTED BY A SENDING ORGANISATION Enrolment fee, travel and costs of the course: Board and lodging are provided and paid for by the CoE/EC partnership. Travel expenses and visa fees are reimbursed (on presentation of the relevant receipts) according to Youth Directorate rules. An enrolment fee of 350 FF per participant will be deducted from the amount to be reimbursed for travel expenses.
