Youth and Globalisation to trigger off. in Brussels
The World Youth Summit on Globalisation is ready to take off! Having the participation of 200 delegates from all over the world and with an official programme featuring illustrious speakers, the 'Youth & Globalisation' Project Team of AEGEE-Europe is ready for this challenge. As from December 10th till 12th, youth leaders from across the five continents will gather in Brussels to actively discuss globalisation and explore avenues to positively guide its forces for Europe and the world.
The Grand Closure of the "Youth & Globalisation" project of AEGEE-Europe is the World Youth Summit on Globalisation taking place next week in the heart of Europe, Brussels. The venues chosen are the International Association Centre [MAI] and the European Parliament. During this summit, the working sessions organized around the five thematic pillars of the project, being politics, economics, culture, geo-communications and civil society will be in the form of parallel workshops that will go on during the first two days of the event. All throughout the three days, compromise and consensus building are the essential fundamentals for the delegates who have the tough task to outline the way to go forward for Europe vis-à-vis its responsibilities in the world.
At the European Parliament, the 200 delegates have the unique chance to assist to the contribution given by illustrious personalities and experts in the field such as Haleh Bridi, special representative to the EU from World Bank, Brigita Schmögnerová, executive secretary of UNECE, Mr. Joao Vale de Almeida, representative of the DG on Education and Culture and Mr. Peter Lacy, manager of the European Academy of Business in Society, CSR Europe amongst others.
Press conference will be held at 2.30 pm in the building of the Pomeranian Association of Rural Communities (second floor) at Square de Meeus 18 (close to the Houses of Parliament) in Brussels, preceded by a "press coffee" at 2 o'clock. A Press Coffee will precede the Press Conference.
Press observation in the European Parliament is due at 10 o'clock in the Room A 3 G-2 at the EP Premises, and it will take place during the open discussion session featuring the distinguished speakers representing European Commission, European Policy Center and CSR Europe. This will enable us to put their names and media they represent on the press list that will be placed at the front desk entrance to the Parliament.
This Grand Closure of the 2003 Year plan Project of AEGEE, the European Students Forum enjoys the Patronage of Baroness Emma Nicholson of Winterbourne, Member of European Parliament and College of Europe and has the support from the World Bank and Foreign Policy Magazine. The World Youth Summit on Globalisation will be under the observation of the International Youth Parliament.
