PRESS RELEASE: AEGEE's Y Vote 2009 hits the Isles - UK tour

After Austria, Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Hungary,
Cyprus, Belgium… Y Vote 2009 is going to hit the Isles. AEGEE (European
Students’ Forum) has partnered with student and youth NGOs from Dover to
Stirling to bring the fact – that EU politics matter – and change the fact –
that young people don’t care about it.

Y Vote UK is approaching young people in a rather special manner – being
aware of the traditional British outlook on the European Union – but our
message stays the same: making informed choices at the elections is the
simplest yet most powerful instrument for change.

The campaign will be launched in London, at the Isle of Y (April 26 – 28)
and continued during the next 30 days in 26 cities. The tour will have its
closure in Edinburgh (May 29 – June 2). On June 3 a nation wide synergy of
actions will make up our final – Only One Day – effort to mobilize first
time voters for the June 4 election day.

Y Vote UK is hoping to reach out to tens of thousands of young people across
the UK. To give the effort a strong European youth vibe, one hundred young
people from all EU member states will get the chance to join different
campaigning activities. Our actions will vary in their size and nature –
from music to sports, from debates with MEPs to street flash mobs – all with
one single aim: to make young people think about their future.
