events; members can use it to look up information about trainings or
becoming a trainer and locals can use it to search for nearby trainers for
events.
Y Vote article in EurActiv : the different voting requirements in the EU
The Y Vote 2014 Project recently published an article in EurActiv. It
addressed the issue of the diverse national rules within the EU that
regulate the requirements to be eligible to participate in European
elections. The rules that determine the minimum age to be eligible to vote
and to stand as a candidate vary so badly across the Member States that the
Y Vote Project questions whether the principle of equality is sustained in
this system.
You can read the whole article here and share your opinion with the Y Vote
2014 team!

     The AEGEEan Section
Back to black: New law that might kill democracy in Ukraine
"*Imagine the situation: you are at the Agora, where many significant
proposals should be discussed and voted upon. The opposition (a group of
people not supporting such changes) is blocking the Chairperson from
leading the plenary/discussion of the proposal. The solution: the
Vice-chair is leading the discussion from the middle of the plenary room,
not giving any time for the discussion and adding some voting proposals
which had never even been in the agenda. And by the way, the Chair and
Vice-chair are from the group of people who are pushing changes to be
approved*."

Member of the Month – Laura López & AEGEE-Oviedo’s Outstanding 25th
Anniversary
AEGEE-Oviedo organized last December two outstanding events to celebrate
their 25th anniversary, as The AEGEEan had recently reported. Firstly, a
ceremony at the University of Oviedo with many remarkable members and the
founders of the local. And secondly, they threw a big 25th Anniversary
party with AEGEE members coming from all over Europe, which turned out to
be a crazy New Year’s Event, too.

this intense and challenging road!”
The new year brings new amazing events and “Traning for Trainers”(T4T) is
one of them! The event will take place in Budapest, Hungary from 30/03/2014

members of AEGEE or another student/youth organisation, who are eager to
support others in their learning and development process, share their
experiences and looking for a comprehensive and challenging experience to
get them started on their journey as a trainer. This is a promising event
that is going to become a platform for a new generation of trainers. The
AEGEEan had an opportunity to talk to the content managers Bernardett Polya
and Irina Buriana.
