I hope that you all got back home well and are very motivated=)) I'm already
busy with organizing the conference of AEGEE Aachen.
Please forward this email to the members of your Aegee local and to everyone
who could be interested in it. We still have some places available=)

AEGEE Aachen welcomes you to a conference about EU politics and lobbing!

Find out more about how EU-directives come to existence, what think tanks
and their aims are, how lobbing works, which lobbing groups exist and how
they influence politics, and check out some critical views on the topic! We
have invited many speakers who can give you a really good insight into the
topics.

We have planned a four-day programme for you with lots of interesting
lectures, discussions, workshops, a simulation and a panel discussion! Check
out the programme:


DAY 1: Tuesday, 27.03.07
Lecture :EU Structure
Lecture: The EU Treaties
Lecture: EU Legislative: a general overview of the EU-decision making
process
(example of the development process of EU-directive)
Workshop: The Council of the EU and the European Parliament
Workshop: Executive : The Commission of the EU

DAY 2: Wednesday, 28.03.07
Lecture: Think Thanks and their influence on European politics
Lecture: the decision making process from the viewpoint of a lobby group
Workshop: Lobbying techniques

Workshop: discussion about pro and contra Lobbying

DAY 3: Thursday, 29.03.07
Lecture: Bologna Process
Simulation Sessions

DAY 4: Friday, 30.03.07
Workshop: results of the conference and preparation for the penal discussion
Panel discussion: How democratic is the EU?

The participation fee includes meals and lodging.
As the program on the 30th ends in the late afternoon, we will provide
lodging till the 31th at no additional cost.

We request from all appliciants an essay (500 words) about the pros and cons
of lobbying with regard to the decision making process.
